  Holbrook Lodge #30 A.F. & A.M.

Worshipful Master - Michael Ratliff
Senior Warden - Dave Hinton
Junior Warden - Glenn Lazott
Secretary - Harold Johnson

Greetings Brethren!

Wow, we are well into the New Year and the lodge has a lot of energetic plans. We continue to labor on preparations for several big events on our 2010 calendar. David has if preparing the arrangements for the Wives and Widows Banquet on March 14th. Right Worshipful Brother, Jonny Edwards has announced his official visit for April 6th. Our Sesquicentennial Celebration will include participation of the Grand Lodge for a Cornerstone and Rededication ceremony on Sunday September 12th.

We still have two events in January, the Craft Club on Thursday, January 21st and the painting parties on January 24th and 25th. Craft Club will include a study group for the Torchlight program and any ritual practice people want. We really need a final surge of effort to complete the work in the dining room. Please, join the group at 10:00 AM on the 24th and/or at 8:00 on the 25th. Brothers have put in a lot of sweat and effort.

Also, remember February’s Stated Meeting is also White Leather Apron Night. So, dig out the Apron you received after you were raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason. We have greatly enjoyed this event in the past two years. We will read the back of the aprons and telling stories that these magnificent emblems bring to mind. It is a great way for new Masons to see the rich history of our order.

Worshipful Brother Jim Dorman II has drafted a fine version of the Order of the Rusty Nail. We plan to confer the order on any Brother desiring it during our March Stated meeting. This Order helps reminds Brothers who may not have been in lodge for a while the structure and customs of the lodge. If you would like an easy refresher in the signs, modes of recognition and the words used in the ritual, be sure to attend. If you know of a Brother who doesn’t attend anymore because being a little rusty with the protocols, make a special effort to invite them.

Cheers to all the Holbrook Masonic Family,

Fraternally,
Michael Ratliff, WM

Secretary's Corner

Three roof donations this month, now at 91%. With the 8% from the breakfasts now at 99%. It would be nice to be able to say that we had 100% donations to cover the roof cost. If we get more roof donations we will count some of the breakfast money toward the south wall. Either way we should have the roof fund to 100% by next month. That will be something that Holbrook Lodge members should be very proud of and many thanks to Forest Chapter OES and Forest Grove Chapter RAM and the many individual donations of their members and Newberg Masonic Lodge. Several members of all organizations have made more than one donation, two have donated every month. Without the generosity of all we would not have a new roof, new siding and insulation for the south outside wall, and the new drywall & paint in the dining room. If you have not been here for a while please do come at least once and see the improvements. It is your Lodge building and you should be a part of it.

Also as Holbrook Lodge will celebrate its 150th year in 2010, we will be very busy and the new Master has several new activities planned for the year. Come and be part of activities. I am sure you will find some that you will enjoy. Hope to see you soon.

Fraternally,
Harold

Hi Guys! Here's the February OES Corner:

Well, 2010 has started on a good rolll. We had a speaker at each January meeting and we have honored Past Matrons and Patrons. My experiment for refreshments is beginning to work--we had a very nice selection of munchies after the 1/11 meeting; I am looking forward to good things to come.

February will be busy: at our 2/8 meeting we will honor our 50 and 25 year members--the "living history" of our Chapter and our Order. On 2/16 we will meet with Tualatin Chapter in Hillsboro for our Grand Visitation of the WGM and WGP (this is a Tuesday evening). WM Helen Bible and I have planned a good evening for all: 6:15 is a potluck, Tualatin will provide the meat and hot dishes; Forest will bring salads and desserts (enough for the meal and for afters). An addendum for the WGM & WGP is planned--be prepared to participate!

It sure would be nice to see more of you at our meetings, we changed our start time to 7:30pm per your vote and for your convenience!

Sharon L. Kelley, WM
