I am pleased to report that Holbrook Lodge made off with Washington Lodge’s traveling gavel. Larry Williams, PM, Harold Johnson, PM Jim Dorman II, PM, Merrill Ludlam, PM, Frank Mesmer and myself visited Washington Lodge No. 46 and had the most pleasant time. They treated us graciously and were outstanding host. It was a most pleasant night and we look forward for their visit to retrieve the gavel in the near future.

Plans continue for our 150th anniversary celebration. This Tuesday, May 18, we will be working on scanning to electronic formatting many of the lodge’s historical items, including the photos of our Past Masters. This will be the first step in creating a webpage celebrating our heritage and a publication of our history.

Holbrook has a very busy schedule for the beginning of June. Grand Lodge quickly follows our stated meeting this month. In addition, we will have the second installment of our Craft Club. In Craft Club, we will be working on increasing our Masonic knowledge. First, we will be completing the Torchlight course. After which, we will offer ritual practice including any candidate lectures that need work.

Many of us have purchased lodge jackets. These have the lodge’s chartered dates and a square and compass on the back plus your name on the left breast. They come in black and navy for $70. These jackets are a great way to celebrate the sesquicentennial. To order, please see Senior Warden, Davie Hinton.

    Fraternally,
    Michael Scott Ratliff, Worshipful Master

Holbrook had a great meeting at Jennings-McCall this month with 36 present, including 9 residents from here and several visitors and some Holbrook members that we had not seen for a while, keep coming now and have a great summer and we will see you in September.

We lost Sean Nelson, he was only 46 years old. Ralph Hutchens had some serious surgery and is now home recovering nicely and Bert Brunsman is slowly recovering from his fall outside in the cold weather.

We had two roof donations this month. We would like to start a Torchlight program on the 2nd Tuesdays and then if we have degrees to do we can do them instead of the Torchlight. They are very interesting and even us older members learn from the Torchlight. Call me and let me know if you will attend so I can get the materials. I still have dues cards that the Lodge needs to exchange for a check. No one twisted your arm to join so we should not have to twist your arm or spend money for postage to get you to pay your dues. I hope you did not delay paying your other obligations this long or you would be in a tent out in the woods someplace. If you are unable to pay please let us know and we can remit them for you this year.

We need to have a day (for volunteers) to finish the painting in the dining room and a general clean-up and haul some junk out before Lodge in September as we will be very busy then getting ready for the 150-year celebration in September. Have a great summer.

    Fraternally,
    Harold

Forest Chapter #42 Order of Eastern Star

    Worthy Matron - Sharon Kelley
    Worthy Patron - Lindy Larkins
    Secretary - Mary Welch

We have elected our officers for 2010-2011: Stella Bryant, WM; David Hinton, WP; Carol Currie, AM; Cinder Wolff; Cond; Patty Hartman, Assoc. Cond; Mary Welch, Secretary and Mary Burtch, Treasurer. Stella announced her corps of officers; all stations will be filled except AP. Installation is Saturday July 10 at 2pm. Please put the date on your calendar, come and support our Chapter and Stella.

We will have exemplified degrees by the time you read this. We are required to do a complete degree every year--either a real one or an exemplification. Since we did not have any petitions this year, we did the exemplification. Please think about your friends--are any of them eligible to become a member of the Order of Eastern Star? It would be just spiffy to have a real initiation next year.

Thank you to all Chapter members for your support this Honey Bear and Bumble Bee year.

    Sharon L. Kelley, WM
    Lindy Larkins, WP
